What is BYOD?
“Bring your own device” (BYOD) refers to students bringing a personally owned device to school for the purpose of learning. A personally owned device is any technology device brought into the school and is owned by a student or the student’s family. There are different models of BYOD. Cronulla High School has chosen a BYOD model that will meet the needs of most families according to data from student surveys, parent surveys and teacher surveys. Cronulla High School students will be permitted to bring their own device to school. The device must be able to connect to the school WiFi and have specific software installed:
Before students bring their devices to school, they will be required to sign a BYOD Student Agreement that sets out how the device can be used at school.

- Spreadsheet
- Presentation
- Notetaking
- Internet browser with flash enabled
- Antivirus software
- Adobe Suite
