As you would know the DER Program finishes at the end of 2013 and as a result a Technology Committee has been formed to investigate what Teachers, Students and Parents of Year 9 2014 Students require in place of the DER Program. Listed below are some of the results of the surveys and some suggestions for parents and students.
Teachers
100% said they would like Year 9 to BYOD in 2014
Preferred Device is a Laptop
Uses for the Device would include:- Internet, Moodle, Email, Word Processing, Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint Presentations, Adobe Suite and Camera Functions.
Parents
73% said they had a device that they would permit their student to bring to school.
71% said that the device they would prefer their students to use at school is a Laptop.
Students
85% of students said they had a device they would like to bring to school in 2014.
54% said that the device they would prefer to bring to school is a Laptop.
At the end of 2015 Survey Monkey was used to ask Students what they thought of the BYOD Program, how often they use their BYOD and for what purpose do they use their BYOD.

Results included:
- Students use BYOD between 3 and 4 periods per day
- Most common uses for BYOD were: Moodle, Hot Maths, Microsoft Office, Literacy Planet, Internet Browsing, Adobe Photoshop, eDiary, email etc.
- 95% of Students wanted to continue with BYOD Program
- 93% of Students responded that their BYOD assisted their learning
